Winter Lamb
Maybe we are all winter lambs
a little odd,
a little lonely,
and maybe a little lost.
Maybe we are all
wandering through places,
looking for somewhere
we can belong.
Because sometimes,
when the world feels cold,
all we need
is a hand to hold.
We wander.
We stumble.
We lose our way.
And still,
we keep searching,
trying to find our way
back to the flock.
Though we may be cast aside,
though we may be the ones
who walk a little slower,
who are a little different,
who are still learning
how to find our footing
we hope there is a flock
that will let us be.
A flock that does not mind
if we are a little odd,
a little weak,
a little scared,
a little lost.
A flock that sees us stumble
and reaches out a hand,
instead of watching us fall.
A flock that waits
when our little legs grow tired,
instead of walking away.
Because maybe belonging
was never about being
the strongest lamb,
or the one who never falls.
Maybe a flock is simply
a place where winter lambs
can rest their heads,
feel a little warmth,
and know
they are finally home.
